  • Reproductive Justice Book Talk Featuring “Hood Feminism” by Mikki Kendall

    Join YWCA Delaware, Black Mothers in Power, and the National Coalition of 100 Black Women DE Chapter for an impactful evening of meaningful conversations and connection. We invite you to take a deep dive into the book, "Hood Feminism" by Mikki Kendall, exploring themes of allyship, reproductive justice, and how white women can show up for Black women when it truly matters. This book is a powerful and relevant read, and we are excited to gather for an in-person event on the evening of October 30th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of Saints Andrew and Matthew, 719 N. Shipley Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.

  • White Ally Workshop

    Our White Ally Workshop is designed to help white allies develop skills to engage racism skeptics in productive conversations with friends, family, and neighbors. The experience aims to help white allies see the task of using their influence to bring other white people along on their lifelong mission of dismantling racism. Participants will leave with the opportunity to build a support system with other white allies and continue to develop the skills learned in the workshop.

    YWCA Delaware is proud to host a Governor Candidate Forum in partnership with ACLU Delaware, Black Mothers in Power, Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement (DANA), Delaware Center for Justice (DCJ), Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence (DCADV), GenVote, Housing Alliance Delaware, Sierra Club Delaware Chapter, and VOTAMOS (We Vote).

    DeUp to 400,000 people who have a record in Delaware live with limited access to jobs, housing, education, starting a business, or participating fully in social and civic community life. 290,000 of those people are eligible for mandatory expungement.

  • YW Leaders

    YWCA Delaware’s YW Leaders program is designed to help high school students develop a better understanding of who they are while cultivating an appreciation and understanding for individuals of diverse backgrounds whose appearance, values, and interests differ from their own. Facilitator-led sessions are offered in-person or online through four educational modules. Students will engage in critical conversations and learn skills to become leaders in their communities as they advocate for racial and social justice. As the program grows, students will be given the opportunity to transition into leadership roles.

    Join Delaware’s GOTV Coalition, a diverse group of advocates and individuals committed to educating and mobilizing voters for the 2024 elections. Every election, from local School Board contests to the Governor's race, holds significance for our communities. That's why we're hosting candidate forums, setting up registration and education tables across the state, and reminding everyone of the importance of voting. We’re also expanding our coalition to welcome all organizations and individuals who share our vision. Regardless of media narratives, every election matters and your participation can make a difference. Together, let’s empower Delawareans to make their voices heard at the ballot box.

  • Watch Now - MLK Day of Action 2024

    We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us for our MLK Day of Action in person and virtually. During the event we discussed the importance of organizing, collective advocacy and unification. We also introduced our 2024 Policy Pillars and Advocacy Action Alerts. We thank Representative Larry Lambert, Senator Elizabeth Lockman and Community Advocate Lynne Kielhorn for sharing their experiences on why and how they chose to get involved in Delaware's legislative process. We also thank the Delaware Community Foundation (DCF) for providing a delicious catered meal before the start of our presentation.

  • Racism in America: The History We Didn't Learn in School

    This six-week history course raises the knowledge and awareness of untold history in America. This course begins with the history of enslaved Africans in the country that is now known as America in 1619 and goes through the history of voting rights and suppression up until 2023. Week six of the course challenges participants to explore actions to change systemic racial injustice and ensure a more equitable, diverse, inclusive, and just society. The course includes lectures, Q&A sessions and small group discussions.

    We’re bringing the community together through truth-telling, reconcilation and racial healing. This process will help give voice to different perspectices and experiences.
    Join us for 6-week consecutive weeks of online group discussions designed to promote ways for all of us to heal from past wounds, establish mutually respectful connections across racial and ethnic lines that honor and value each person’s humanity, and build trusting diverse community ties that better represent our common humanity.
