Help a family experiencing homelessness with groceries for the weekend  

YWCA Delaware plays a critical role in ending homelessness in our state. Our Home-Life Management Center in Wilmington, DE offers 28 emergency shelter units for families and is running at full capacity.  

Families come to us with diverse backgrounds, often with limited possessions or financial resources. Among our current residents is a mother seeking safety after fleeing gang violence —her home was burglarized and set on fire when her son chose a new path. We also have a single mother with an infant who had recently relocated to Delaware, as well as a two-parent household, both of whom are enrolled in a job training program, with two children and a third on the way.  

Families placed with YWCA Delaware live in a dorm-style unit with access to a microwave and toaster oven. They receive hot meals three times a day during the week, but our commercial kitchen is unavailable on the weekends.  

Your gift of $25 will help provide grocery gift cards for families in our emergency shelter to purchase prepared food over the weekend. Grocery gift cards may also be donated directly by mail to YWCA Delaware, Development Department, 100 W. 10th Street, Suite 515, Wilmington, DE 19801.
